Is Holland a good soccer team? In the Top 3?

Don't know much about soccer...or the teams.

Holland should be one of the top teams, they always manage to produce a plethora (good word for a monday simple_smile ) of top players but they regularly fail to impress as a team. Holland and Spain both are perennial (another good word for a monday smile ) under achievers.

Holland should be one of the top teams

The next logical question should be - Who are the top soccer teams then?

netclectic - Don't you watch any rugby? Scotland also has a rugby team as far as i know...don't know if Holland has a rugby team.

England, Wales and Ireland are strong rugby teams...why not scotland?

The balance of power (in Europe anyway) seems to be changing... most recently France, usually Germany, occassionally England. A lot of the "eastern block" countries are coming to prominence. It seems to be far more of a lttery now than it has been in recent times which definitly makes it more exciting for the neutral, which sadly Scotland seems to be all too often.

Yes, not much to shout about recently though. I used to play, until a motorbike accident put an end to that, open side wing forward.

Outch!...to much beer i think?

Last played in highschool - Number 7 Wing Forward until i found in my last year that i was better in chess...(Nerd).

WARNING NERD ALERT: Started playing chess in beginning grade 12. - Got province colours in July of the same year.(Why did i play rugby all of those other years!!!)

I think that SA should be rated 3rd in the world with rugby - although this website puts us 4th. http://www.image.co.nz/aqb/rugby_ratings.html I also noticed that this website puts New Zealand first? - bit suspicious if you look at the domain (.co.nz)

I think it is more like: 1. Australia 2. New Zealand 3. South Africa 4. England / France ...

I went the other way, i used to play chess in school until i found i was better at rugby simple_smile I always wore the No. 7 shirt when i played for West of Scotland, one of the oldest club rugby sides. I still have my old club shirt with the 7 on the back wink

Holland Rugby?

i know they have some club rugby sides, can't say i've ever seen their national team (or if they have one).

Yes i did - they have their own spring water or something...But if you look at the amount of Pubs in the place you might think it is a Beer Spring.simple_smile

I was in Buxton during spring...It snowed!! can you beleive it? The George Pub was my favourite place...nice warm fire, warm people and lots of different beers.

On a sadder note - We had to run for our life's a couple of times...We found out the hard way that we South African's where not allways welcome there...especially if you beat the guys at pool and billiards.

First it was you should stop killing blacks! - Then it was - You rassist bastards - what team do you support?(This was the main one to worry about - anything you said ended in a fight.) - Where are you from? Any of those two phrases caused us to get out of the place as quickly as possible. disappointed

The day before i had to leave my friend and i got assualted by a bunch of teenagers!!! - They refered to us as - Bloody Spaniards!!! But the police was there in 2 minutes and they where very helpfull. I guess you find that type of thing everywhere...disappointed

But i liked buxton. - Overall a nice place.simple_smile Also been to Manchester, Stockport, London and think Black Pool(or something like that)

My younger brother is currently working in a Corus Hotel in scotland as a assistant resturant manager...making lots of money....

Shit happens... me and a few mates on holiday in the norfolk broads had to run for our lives from a bunch of "Saddam Hussein t-shirt wearing punk head cases" after we whipped them at pool in their local pub. It was worth it though simple_smile

Footy: We all know "we was robbed", lets just leave it there wink I'm not that bothered actually, I find it amusing that at work the next day everyone was depressed and in a state of shock!

Buxton: Hmm, sounds like you met some of the resident "townies" - they seem to get around! I've been a few times to buxton, and it was nice when I was there, I guess with it being a small town some of the bored locals like to act like morons!

I'm living in Lancaster, which is quite near BlackPool !! Its a much nicer place than blackpool though, wouldn't want to associate myself with that place ;-) Its near the lake distirict, kind of!

Anyway, back to work trying to repair a PC that decided to BSOD me every time I turn it on....

mm, sounds like you met some of the resident "townies"

It happened on the corner of the Hotel between the two parks - in the same street as the Opra House and the george pub - me and pal was on our way home at 0:00 after having a nice vists at the Palace Hotel (I think that is what it is called) - I remembered that we were running for out lives - they caught up and pushed me over the bonet of Merc SLK. My friend was wined, beered up - so he was not much of a runner at that stage...he experienced first hand what a soccer ball feels like.-beleive me it was teenagers +- 15 of them, there was even girls with them.Shhh feels shitty to say that we got beaten up by a bunch of teenages.

Speaking about soccerballs....Holland Vs Portugal!simple_smile

Who will come out of this victorious?stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye

Can you feel the presure?wink

It was excellent...Never new that soccer can be so tense! Portugal has some very young energetic players. It turned out that Portugal was the winners...

Yeah, commiserations to Holland (again).

You should have seen the Holland v Czech game earlier in the tournament, possibly the best game of the tournament so far.

Have you seen Delphi 8 .Net!?

Downloaded a trial version. What have they done to the Old IDE!??

Multi color toolbox??, Funny Object Inspector. And the window form designed is now just as bad as microsofts!!

I really like'd the old tabbed toolbar and form designer better.

But the new IDE does have a more cleaner feel to it that the existing vs.net IDE. - Think it is because their is fewer toolbars on the top section. - Yes i know i can take some of them away.

I have heard alot of reports about it is bug ridden. But have not seen any bugs yet - but i have also not been putting it to work.

I am very happy to see that they kept the 'T' prefix in front of all their classes. That was something that really pissed me off when i started with vs.net - What is a class type and what is a object.

Does take ages to load though..Slower to load that Delphi 5 & 6 combined.

I'll take a moment to use this wayward thread to wish the continued blessings of liberty on the United States of America, celebrating today her 228th year of independence. Even when standing alone may she always do what is right and just.

In 1812, British troops repaid us a visit. The troops stormed into the white house, sat down and ate the still-warm meal that president James Madison had abandon in his hasty retreat. The troops then burned the white house, and also burned down the Library of Congress, which, at the time, consisted mostly of Thomas Jefferson's personal collection.

Last year, in a speech to our congress, British Prime Minister Tony Blair, in reference to the burning of the Library of Congress said, "Um, sorry about that."

Regardless of your personal politics, all our nations have the same goal: A peace in the world that allows the free exchange of ideas, commerce, and taunts about soccer (football). Time will heal our differences.

May God bless these United States.

I'd only wish that the people in the US will watch Moore's movie and understand that what Clinton did was peanuts compared to what Bush and friends have done when it comes to doing things the law of the US forbid you to do.

(but I hope you'll have a nice holiday, Scott simple_smile )
