Ah well, I'm doomed to my yahoo email account for the rest of my days now. Whats the score with gmail, are they just rolling it out very carefully? How did you manage to get an account in the first place?

I got one from a friend of mine. They hand out gmail invites on a regular basis, but it's basicly beta-testing the system. I don't understand the hype really. It's still web-based email, which is as userfriendly as writing code in emacs.

There is a lot of hype. Its good for me because I can check my email from anywhere, which is nice...but its still limited by the web.

Having said that, have you seen the web frontend to Outlook 2003 - thats an example of pushing the boundaries there.

I have plenty to give out, if anyone here still wants one. I prefer the GMail interface to almost any other mail interface I've used, web or not. I hope MS steals is inspired by some of GMail's features and adds them to the next version of Outlook.

Well, in my defence:

a) Its been a long day, lots of oracle bugs; and b) The "gmail at" thing threw me; and c) I'm easily confused
