Hi,

We've recently purchased an upgrade to LLBLGen, but it's complaining about a changed licence:

"The license is modified and therefore void. Application could not start."

I put the licence in the LLBLGen directory without renaming it.

Did you install the full version of v2 and did you place the license file in THAT folder? You can't place the v2 license in the v1 folder or vice versa.

Yup. I ran LLBLGenPro20.msi and then copied the file LLBLGen_1.license to the C:\Program Files\Solutions Design\LLBLGen Pro v2.0 directory.

Could you re-save the license attachment from your email program? It could be the license file is indeed corrupt and not properly saved. If you're sure the license file is properly saved, I'll look up your customer id and will email you the license file again in a .zip file.

No as he ran the .msi, the beta came in a zip simple_smile It's likely the save action from the email program went wrong or that the license file got corrupted in the email.

I had the same issue. I fixed it be renaming the file 'LLBLGen_1.license' to 'LLBLGen.license'

That's odd, unless you also had a file called LLBLGenPro.license in the folder which was a leftover from the beta.

Is that the case, colm?

Nope. You may be right, the licence file could have gotten corrupted when it was uploaded to our wiki.

Could you re-email it to colm AT bluewire-technologies.com ? It's set to be sent to my colleague's email address (will AT bluewire-technologies), but he's on holiday right now so I can't get at his email.

First remove any files/folder from the installation folder (remains of beta or RC versions) before installing V.2

renaming the file won't make any difference, provided there is no other license around.

Sorry for the delay, I'll send the license file to your personal address in a .zip file, renamed to .zzz. I'll also re-send the email as-is to your emailaddress.

(edit: sent simple_smile )

When I place your license file I sent you again in the install folder I can run the designer normally and the license info shows up normally.

Very weird.

Could you do the following: - uninstall the v2.0 version - completely CLEAN the folder - re-install v2 -place the file I send you in the folder, preferably the one unpacked from the zip file.

Same thing happens:

Fatal error.

The license is modified and therefore void. Application could not start.

OK

This is from the zip file you sent me.

There's no file with the exact filename LLBLGenPro.license in the installation folder? It will search for license files in the installation folder: LLBLGenPro*.license. It will try the first one it finds. If you have LLBLGenPro.license and LLBLGenPro_1.licence in that folder, and LLBLGenPro.license is a leftover from the BETA install, which thus is a v1 license, it will give you exactly the error you have. I can repro that when I copy a v1 license into the v2 app dir, even if I have a LLBLGenPro_1.license file in that folder.

When I copy the file I sent you to the bin folder it works.

Could you try on another machine as well, to see if it works there?

Solved!

Er, well, it looks like that at least (still doesn't run on one machine).

The problem appeared to be that v2.0 was still using the old licensing DLL in the GAC. After I exorcised it from the GAC it seemed to work.

I would've thought strong naming on the DLLs would have prevented this from happening, but at least it's working now simple_smile

I find that hard to believe as the new licensing DLL is signed with a different strong key, so a different public token is set for the signature of the dll. Unless you also had the applicationcore assembly in the GAC, which made your designer use the 1.0.2005.1 version of the applicationcore assembly, which would cause all kinds of problems. You shouldn't install these assemblies in the GAC, just keep them local to the application. So please remove all designer assemblies from the gac and try again on the machine where it doesn't work. simple_smile

Hello,

In order to migrate a lgp file to llblgenproj, I downloaded llblgen V2.6, but i cannot start it due to a missing license. If I copy my llblgen V5 license into the llblgen V2.6 folder I receive the following error message : The license is modified and therefore void. Application could not start.

I requested a trial license, but it did not fix the issue.

Is there a license per version ?

Kind regards

Denis
