hi,

I have developed a freeware tool (.NET 4.0/ LLBLGEN pro 3.1/SQlServer 2008 ). I would like to incorporate HnD into my app. Are there any licensing issues, if i try doing that?

Am I covered in the license to do that? I will maintain acknowledgements , for sure.. please suggest !

Thanks and Regards GJ

HnD is GPL2 licensed, so if you include it into your app, your app also should be licensed with the GPL2. If you don't want that, you can't integrate HnD with other software.

And what about the integration of the forum in a website? Does this also means it has to become GPL2 or is it seperate enough to be seen as stand-alone? And what if we make it Single-Sign-On with the website / portal?

Depends on what you're going to do with the website/portal. If you distribute that as a product, the GPL prevents you from distributing the forum unless you GPL the rest. If you use it as a website custom made for a customer, you're fine.

GPL forbids distribution of binaries from the sourcecode without the sourcecode. It's debatable whether it's distribution if you create a website for 1 customer and pass it to the customer.

We made it GPL to avoid having others sell the forum code as a product. We didn't make it GPL to nag onto our customers of course. So unless you're selling the forum as part of a product (to as many customers as possible, so no custom made stuff), you're fine.
