Ok, how many other fans of the show Firefly are there? Is it just me that can't wait until the movie Serenity opens in September? Do we know yet if it will cause the series to be picked back up? I hear that Sci-Fi channel will re-run the originals, but will they carry it forward? Anyone know?

It's a TV show broadcast by Fox a few years ago. It was on for less than one season before it was canceled.

Basicly, it's the wild, wild, west in space. The character development is terrific, the stories are super, and the acting is pretty good. It's a Joss Whedon, who also did Buffy and some other things. I've never seen anything else he's done, but I hear it's good.

Fox butchered the show by showing the series out of order, and pre-empting it for weeks at a time. The show was canceled before all the episodes filmed were shown.

A DVD was released that had all the shows, in order, and some interviews. The overwhelming sales of the DVD prompted the creation of the movie, which will, hopefully, resurrect the series. Ironic.

I believe Joss has said that he wants to continue doing movies if Serenity is successful. I think he has at least a trilogy planned if he can pull it off.

That sounds good! I'm of a mixed mind after seeing the trailers for the movie. It shows a bunch of kicking and punching, but I want some storyline questions answered. If it's just a big shoot-em-up I won't be happy.

From what I've heard from those that have seen the preview showings it's pretty kick ass. I haven't looked too deeply to avoid too many spoilers, but it seems like it should at least make Firefly fans happy!

Here's a huge interview with Joss Whedon. I haven't had a chance to read it all yet, but it looks pretty good http://www.infocusmag.com/05augustseptember/whedonuncut.htm
