Question about V3 Beta

I'm on a Team that is just starting a brand new enterprise application (.Net 3.5 SP1 WPF client side and .Net 4.0 server side). We've decided to use LLBLGen Pro (largely because I've used it with great success in the past).

We would like to start with the beta LLBLGen Pro v3. My questions are:

  1. When will the beta program start?
  2. Is is an open beta program? 2a. If it's a closed beta, how do we apply / get accepted?
  3. How would the licensing work? Will the v3 beta include a go live license?
  4. What will the pricing structure be for v3?

Thanks for the info.

we expect to start the beta around the end of the year, perhaps a little sooner, perhaps a little later, depends on how quick we get the final polish on the features...

It's a closed beta. Prior to starting the beta, we open registration via our website and people who want to participate in the beta have to describe for what application they want to use it for. Beta testers are asked to actively use the toolkit in their development work, so we get real feedback instead of kicking-the-tires. Everyone who gives feedback (i.o.w. gives notion that s/he actively participated) gets a free license.

Yes, one can use the beta in real work and use it in production, otherwise people won't use it for real development wink

  1. What will the pricing structure be for v3?

That's not to be disclosed yet, but expect a higher price than currently for new users and a discounted price for current v2 users who want to upgrade to v3.

You're planning on using .net 4.0, it depends on when we ship (which is with a 2 month beta period around february/march 2010) and when .NET 4.0 is released if v3.0 will ship with .NET 4.0 support out of the box, though it's likely it will have .net 4.0 support from the start (i.e. templates for vs.net 2010 projects, EF 4.0)

Thanks for the info. We'll keep our eyes open for the beta program announcement.
