Hi,

In follow up to http://www.llblgen.com/tinyforum/Messages.aspx?ThreadID=13528, I just experienced the exact same issues.

The menu's only open their shadow border, but not their contents: see attached screenshot.

I first tried it with a LLBLGen install from June and it didn't work. Then I read the Readme.txt which made me install the lastest 2.6 (16-oct) and tried again. The problem this exists.

Any suggestions?

Thanks, Gab

Did this happen always, or after something you noted? What OS are you using?

Just for testing, could you please try this:

  1. Close TemplateStudio
  2. Locate these two files (typically on C:\Documents and Settings<user>\AppData\LLBLGenPro) and delete them.
  3. Open TemplateStudio.

I have never seen this though... very odd.

I deleted the 2 files, but exactly the same still happens.

It's Vista Business 64-bit SP1.

As we've never experienced it ourselves, it's very hard to track down what it might be, and even that, it's very likely a Janus problem, the menus are janus controls. I can find 1 description in their changelog which might be the fix of this, though I'm not sure.

The main problem is: I can only download the latest build, which is v3.5, not v3.0. This means that if I download v3.5, users have to upgrade both the designer AND template studio at the same time.... and history learns that that's a pain.

It happens every time? If you run it in vista with the 'xp' compatibility mode, does it work then?

I will look into this later to today to see what it does on other Vista 64-bit machines.

Same problem here, 64-bit system. Is there any solution yet?

Did you try to run it as xp compatible or 32bit compatible instead?

I did try to run it as Windows XP compatible, with turned off themes and so on, but this had no effect. I don't know what you mean by running as 32-bit compatible. There might be another factor to this problem, as I am using my machine through remote desktop. But that worked perfectly when I had XP installed.

Running as a 32bit compatible means that the app is ran on 32bit .NET instead of 64bit .net, but now I think about it, that's already done by default as it's a 32bit .NET app.

I've checked again and we're using build 63 of Janus' 3.0.0.0 controls for v2.6. There are a couple of bugfixes posted on their site after build 63, so it's worth a try. The problem is that their site only offers the latest build, v3.5.

I'll mail Janus about v3.0.0.0 builds

I've downloaded the patched version (3.0 build 94), does your email address you used to register with this forum accept .zip attachments so I can email you the patched dlls? I can't test it here as I can't reproduce your problem.

I think it might not accept ZIP. It would be better if you packaged it with RAR or 7ZIP.

Ok. I'll pack it with 7zip (I use that anyway wink ) and will mail you the updated dlls from janus in a minute. You then should overwrite the dlls in the llblgen pro install folder and check whether it fixes the problem.

(edit) sent.
